Dumbing Down

For years, the powers that be have denied that “dumbing down” in science education was happening. Recently, the detrimental effects of grade inflation and lowering of standards have become so apparent that it has become impossible for anyone who really cares about science education to keep their heads buried in the sand about this.

Some of the evidence which supports the idea that science education has been dumbed down includes:

A report by Ofqual, the “regulator of qualifications, exams and tests in England”.

A report by SCORE, the “Science Community Representing Education”.

A report by the Royal Society of Chemistry
