Katie Totten is a Biology Teacher at a comprehensive school in London
In general the biology content of both core and additional 21st Century Science course is good. It is pitched at the correct level for most students, covering some of the slightly easier concepts in the core and more advanced ideas in the additional. However topic B3 (life on earth) contains a section on nervous and hormonal control which dosen’t fit well with the evolution theme.
The assesment for the core science is poor, the exam questions are often too easy, vague and do not require much science knowledge. In additional it is difficult to get through all the biology content for the course in the time avialable.

Katie's right - some of the questions in the exams seem ridiculously easy and surely cannot have any value in terms of assessing students' ability or understanding. I'll try and post some examples on this site soon.
